InBev, Anheuser Strike $52B Deal

Law360, New York (July 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After a rejected bid and backdoor negotiations, Anheuser-Busch & Co. Inc. has accepted Belgian brewer InBev NV's $52 billion bid, likely ending lawsuits between the two and shareholder suits against the U.S. beer giant, and creating the world's largest brewer.

Leuven, Belgium-based InBev, which makes Stella Artois and Beck's, and St. Louis-based Anheuser, which makes “King of Beers” Budweiser, announced Sunday that Anheuser's board of directors had unanimously approved InBev's $70-per-share, all-cash offer. InBev said it has secured full financing.
