Adelphia Founder, Son Still Face Fraud Charges

Law360, New York (July 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has refused to drop charges of tax evasion and conspiracy against the founder of Adelphia Communications Corp. and his son, ruling that the defendants are not barred from prosecution for reasons of double jeopardy.

In an order signed July 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Judge John E. Jones III dismissed the double jeopardy defense by defendants John and Timothy Rigas, ruling that the charges the father-son duo face in Pennsylvania are separate from the fraud charges...
