Bikram Yoga Guru To Face Majority Of Claims In Rape Case
By Daniel Siegal (February 13, 2015, 7:29 PM EST) -- A California judge on Friday tentatively rejected Bikram Yoga founder Bikram Choudhury's bid to escape a yoga teacher's sexual assault case — one of several against Choudhury — alleging he raped her at a training seminar, ruling the teacher's post-assault depression tolled the statute of limitations and keeping most of her claims intact.
At Friday's hearing, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rolf M. Treu issued a written tentative ruling sustaining demurrers that Choudhury and his company, Bikram's Yoga College of India LP, brought against Jane Doe No. 2's claims for California Bane Act civil rights violations, negligent infliction of emotional distress,...
