Starbucks Employee To Wash Own Apron, Court Says

Law360, New York (July 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former Starbucks Corp. employee's putative class action against the company seeking compensation for the time and money he spent laundering the apron he was required to wear at work has been thrown out of court.

On Monday, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted Starbucks' motion for summary judgment.

The company would have to pay plaintiff Douglas O'Connor for the time he spent washing his uniform only if the apron required special care, the court said, but O'Connor had not introduced...
