Ex-Seedco Director Can't Ax FCA Suit Over Job Reports

Law360, New York (February 20, 2015, 6:36 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Thursday denied a former Structured Employment Economic Development Corp. director’s motion for summary judgment in a civil False Claims Act suit alleging the job placement nonprofit filed false reports with a federal job reporting database.

U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein said in his ruling that Alex Saavedra, the only defendant left in the case, cannot shake government allegations that he personally participated in the fraudulent scheme by ordering staff to falsify hundreds of job placements to meet Seedco’s placement goals.
