Ex-Two Sigma Analyst Cops To IP Theft, Faces Deportation

By Stewart Bishop (February 24, 2015, 1:59 PM EST) -- A former analyst for hedge fund Two Sigma Investments LLC accused of stealing trade secrets on Tuesday admitted to lifting a confidential trading model from his former employer, setting the stage for his deportation to China.

Kang Gao, 29, appeared before New York Supreme Court Judge Jill Konviser and pled guilty to one count of unlawful duplication of computer-related material, a felony, with the understanding that he will be sentenced to 10 months in jail. Gao, a Chinese national, will almost certainly face deportation to his native country, Judge Konviser said.
