Judge Refuses To Toss Data Protection Patent Suit

Law360 (July 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has refused to grant Riverbed Technology Inc.'s motion for summary judgment in a suit over the patent for a method to prevent the duplication of data, keeping its dispute with Qualcomm Corp. alive.

Judge William Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled against defendant Riverbed's motion on July 14, in an opinion that also granted plaintiff Quantum's motion for leave to amend its complaint.
