Direct Purchaser Class Certified In GPU Antitrust Case

Law360, New York (July 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has certified a class of direct purchasers of graphics processing unit chips in the multidistrict antitrust litigation against Nvidia Corp., Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and its subsidiary ATI Technologies Inc. but has refused to certify a class of indirect purchasers.

On Friday, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled that a limited class of direct purchasers can push ahead with its claim that the defendants engaged in a conspiracy since late 2003 to fix prices of graphics processing units....
