Employees Sue Dollar Tree For Gender Discrimination

Law360, New York (July 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two Dollar Tree Inc. store managers have lodged a proposed class action against their employer for sex discrimination, alleging that the discount store chain systematically pays its female store managers less than their male counterparts.

The complaint, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, claims that Dollar Tree violates the Equal Pay Act by offering its female store managers lesser wages, workers' compensation, disability payments and other salary-based benefits than it gives to male managers who perform equal duties....
