Freight Companies Settle Bid-Rigging Claims

Law360, New York (July 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Five freight-forwarding companies that have contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense to transport the household goods of military and civilian personnel members between the U.S. and Europe have agreed to pay about $666,250 to resolve allegations that they rigged bids.

The parties, Air Land Forwarders, Arpin International Group, Covan International, Jet Forwarding, and SIRVA — which is the parent company of settling Allied Freight Forwarding, Global Worldwide and North American Van Lines — all settled allegations that they violated the False Claims Act, the U.S....
