Continental, UAL, Lufthansa Seek Antitrust Immunity

Law360, New York (July 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Continental Airlines has become the most recent major carrier to seek permission from antitrust watchdogs to team up with other carriers, asking for approval of a trans-Atlantic joint venture with United Airlines parent company UAL, Lufthansa and Air Canada.

Continental said on Wednesday that it had asked the U.S. Department of Transportation to grant the carriers and eight other Star Alliance member airlines antitrust immunity for the venture.
