Del Taco Can't Keep TM For Defunct Chain, TTAB Says

Law360, New York (April 2, 2015, 7:37 PM EDT) -- Fast food chain Del Taco on Tuesday lost a fight to retain trademark rights to name of a long-defunct subsidiary called “Naugles," allowing a Southern California man who wants to revive the chain register it instead.

The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board said Del Taco legally abandoned its registration on the name “Naugles,” a once thriving chain of fast food Mexican joints that had more than 225 locations when it merged with Del Taco in 1988.
