Judge Will Not Decide Parmalat-Citi Case Early

Law360, New York (July 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has rejected Citigroup Inc.’s bid for an early decision in Parmalat SpA’s $2.2 billion case after the Italian dairy giant told a jury that the bank, as its underwriter, aided and abetted the fraud that eventually felled the company in 2003.

Parmalat said Friday that Judge Jonathan N. Harris of the New Jersey State Superior Court, Bergen County, denied Citi's motion for a directed verdict — a decision after the plaintiff has presented its evidence to a jury but before the defendant has....
