Law360, New York (April 9, 2015, 10:29 AM EDT) -- On March 26, 2015, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 received royal assent. It is expected to come into force on Oct. 1, 2015. Part 1 of Schedule 8 to the Consumer Rights Act introduces significant reforms to the Competition Act 1998.[1] The United Kingdom is already the European forum of choice for private competition law claims,[2] and the Consumer Rights Act seeks to cement this position by making it easier for claimants to "gain access to redress where there has been an infringement of anti-trust provisions" through the Competition Appeals Tribunal.[3] In particular, the Consumer Rights Act introduces for the first time in the U.K. an ability to commence opt-out collective proceedings for breaches of competition laws....
