Home Depot Settles Faulty-Railing Class Action

By Emily Field (April 15, 2015, 4:58 PM EDT) -- A class of consumers who claim that they bought outdoor railing products with defective plastic brackets reached a settlement on Tuesday with manufacturer Barrette Outdoor Living Inc. and retailer Home Depot USA Inc.

U.S. District Judge Daniel D. Crabtree gave preliminary approval to a $350,000 settlement and also certified a slightly different class than the one certified in September. The minor differences between the previously certified class and the proposed settlement class only strengthened the case for certification, the judge ruled.
