Judge Nixes $20M Ruling Against Star Wars Designer

Law360, New York (August 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Handing down a split ruling in the Stormtrooper copyright feud, a British court has found that Lucasfilm Ltd. owns the sole rights to the costume helmet designs used in the first Star Wars film, but refused to enforce a $20 million California judgment against a plastics manufacturer who helped recreate the designs.
