American Indians Win Small Victory Over U.S. Govt.

Law360, New York (August 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After a 12-year lawsuit alleging the U.S. government grossly mismanaged a trust for American Indian landowners and owed them billions of dollars, a federal judge has awarded the class $455 million.

Judge James Robertson, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, ruled on Thursday that the plaintiffs' calculations claiming the U.S. government owed them $4 billion were flawed.
