Intellectual Ventures Rips Motorola's Bid For Patent Retrial

By Kelly Knaub (May 26, 2015, 3:33 PM EDT) -- Intellectual Ventures LLC has urged a Delaware federal judge to deny Motorola Mobility LLC's bid for a new trial after a jury found that the smartphone company infringed an Intellectual Ventures patent, saying Motorola's arguments are incorrect or waived.

Last month Motorola had asked the judge to throw out the March verdict, arguing that the patent on transferring electronic files is invalid for obviousness and lack of written description, and that there should be a new trial. But Intellectual Ventures shot back Friday, saying Motorola failed to show a new trial was warranted.
