Uponor Reaches $18M Plumbing Parts Class Action Settlement

By Emily Field (May 27, 2015, 7:41 PM EDT) -- Uponor Inc. told a Nevada federal judge on Tuesday that it had reached an $18 million settlement with plaintiffs and other parties over allegedly defective plumbing parts.

In an unopposed motion, Uponor asked U.S. District Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal to approve the settlement that in addition to the $18 million settlement fund includes extended warranties for class members. Uponor said it began settlement negotiations under the supervision of an independent mediator with the plaintiffs, 39 other defendants in related cases and a number of companies unnamed in the litigation, as well as the nonplaintiffs' insurance carriers.
