$33M Smith Barney Discrimination Settlement OK'd

Law360, New York (August 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has given final approval to Citigroup Inc.'s $33 million settlement of a sex discrimination lawsuit brought by female financial advisers in its Smith Barney unit.

Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California blessed the agreement Wednesday and awarded $7.9 million in fees and expenses to counsel for the class.

The fees granted to Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein LLP, Mehri & Skalet PLLC, Outten & Golden LLP and Altshuler Berzon LLP were about 20% of the...
