Shire Opens New Front In Carbatrol Litigation

Law360 (May 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Shire Laboratories Inc. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against generic drug maker Corepharma LLC, accusing the company of infringing patents for its lucrative, number-three drug Carbatrol, a treatment for seizure disorders.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, was a response to Corepharma’s Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and represents the second such battle Shire has initiated over the drug.
