Judge Backs Class Of Hofstra Student Workers

Law360, New York (August 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has granted conditional certification to a group of former Hofstra University student employees who accuse the institution of failing to pay them overtime wages while they worked for the school.

Magistrate Judge Arlene R. Lindsay of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York granted in part and denied in part class representative plaintiff Lauren Summa's motion for certification Thursday. Judge Lindsay approved the proposed class, but declined the request to toll the statute of limitations.
