UBS Hires New Legal Chief Amid ARS Trouble

Law360, New York (August 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Just weeks after accepting the resignation of one of its top lawyers, investment bank UBS has named a new general counsel — Swiss Re group chief legal officer Markus Diethelm.

UBS announced the appointment in a statement Tuesday, saying Diethelm would join the Swiss bank in the fall as group legal chief, a role made vacant by the election of former General Counsel Peter Kurer to chairman in April.
