FUBU Trademark Tussle With Universal Is “UFUB”: Judge

Law360, New York (May 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- More than four years after FUBU took aim at Universal Studios for poking fun at the popular apparel line in a satirical movie, a federal judge has tossed the apparel maker’s suit, saying the trademark infringement claim is “UFUB”—“utterly frivolous under biopsy.”

Last week’s ruling marks the latest development in a feud that began in 2002, when GTFM LLC, the company that manufactures the FUBU line, filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York targeting the December 2001 release...
