Verizon Accused Of Using Roaming Rates To Gut Competitors

Law360, New York (June 16, 2015, 10:56 PM EDT) -- Texas wireless provider Flat Wireless LLC has lodged a formal complaint with the Federal Communications Commission alleging Verizon Communications Inc. has conspired to force its competitors from the market by charging them unreasonably high rates for roaming services.

Flat Wireless argues that Verizon Wireless and its subsidiaries used its market dominance to force smaller, regional carriers to pay exorbitant rates for their customers' use of Verizon's wireless network while roaming. Flat Wireless said that FCC rules stipulate that roaming — the use of one wireless carrier's network by customers of a second wireless carrier traveling outside of the second carrier's coverage...
