Discover's Antitrust Suit Survives Dismissal Bids

Law360 (August 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a wide-ranging ruling Wednesday, a federal judge denied attempts by credit card giants Visa USA Inc. and MasterCard Inc. to have Discover Financial Services Inc.'s $6 billion antitrust case against them tossed.

Visa and MasterCard had asked Judge Barbara S. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for summary judgment rulings on several aspects of the case, including bids to have the lawsuit dismissed entirely.
