Claire's Boutiques Puts Up $1.15M To End Managers' OT Suit
Law360, New York (June 16, 2015, 5:49 PM EDT) -- Claire's Boutiques Inc. agreed Tuesday to pay $1.15 million to settle claims that it stiffed a proposed class of hundreds of employees on overtime pay and rest periods from 2008 to the present, according to the filing in California federal court.
The jewelry retailer signed off on the proposed settlement ending claims that it violated California labor laws by not properly accounting for the hours worked by approximately 1,375 current and former nonexempt store managers and assistant store managers and for not providing the workers with sufficient break times.
