Patent Holder Targets Sony's Blu-Ray Disc Players

Law360, New York (August 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Orinda Intellectual Properties USA Holding Group Inc. hit Sony Corp. and three subsidiaries with an infringement suit Wednesday, alleging that the PlayStation 3 video game system and other Sony Blu-ray disc players violate a patent covering optical disc technology.

The complaint, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claims a raft of Sony products — including the PlayStation 3, VAIO computers, OEM Blu-ray Disc drives and Blu-ray Disc players — infringe on Orinda’s patent.
