Enron Verdict A Much-Needed Victory For Government

Law360 (May 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors are breathing a sigh of relief after winning a desperately-needed victory to outshine past failures in the Enron case and similar scandals.

Earlier failures in the prosecution of Enron’s Broadband executives, traders at investment bank Merrill Lynch & Co., accountants at Arthur Andersen LLP and even the former HealthSouth chief Richard M. Scrushy have all caused embarrassing headlines that are now drowned out by Thursday’s verdict.
