Refusing To Back Down, Martha Stewart Battles SEC

Law360, New York (May 26, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After a comeback following five months in prison, Martha Stewart is at it again, this time standing up against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in its bid to prosecute the domestic tycoon for civil insider trading charges.

Stewart, who last year completed her jail stint for lying about her sale of ImClone Systems Inc. stock, said in court documents filed this week in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that she will not settle the SEC’s civil charges against her,...
