Judge OKs NY Hospital's $6.6M FICA Tax Class Settlement
By Eric Kroh (July 7, 2015, 2:39 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Monday approved a $6.63 million agreement between New York-Presbyterian Hospital and a class of former residents who claimed the institution bargained away their rights to Federal Insurance Contributions Act tax refunds in a settlement with the Internal Revenue Service.
U.S. District Judge Lorna G. Schofield signed an order granting preliminary approval to the settlement of two class complaints, which provides for $4.5 million to be paid out to members of the class and $2.1 million for attorneys' fees and costs.
