Law360, New York (August 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Plaintiffs lawyer Melvyn Weiss is still going to prison, but with potentially deeper pockets. A New York state judge has authorized Milberg LLP to pay Weiss fees stemming from certain work he generated before his criminal conviction for participating in a long-running kickback scheme.
The ruling came down just a few days before Weiss was due to begin serving his 30-month prison term. He was reportedly due at a minimum-security camp in Morgantown, W.Va., on Thursday.
