Fla. Judge Lets Argentina Soccer Kick Media Rights Suit
Law360, Miami (July 17, 2015, 4:45 PM EDT) -- A Florida state judge granted the official Argentinean soccer association's dismissal Friday of a lawsuit claiming it breached an exclusive agreement to market its global television and media rights, saying Argentina's government is an indispensable party and cannot be sued under sovereign immunity.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jose M. Rodriguez's ruling represented the third time — and second in his court — that Asociacion del Futbol Argentino has escaped the claims of plaintiff GMI LLC, a broker controlled by Argentine entrepreneurs Alejandro and Gustavo Mascardi.
