Walgreen, Duane Reade Hit With Food Overcharge Class Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (July 22, 2015, 8:17 PM EDT) -- Duane Reade Inc. and parent company Walgreen Co. were slapped with a putative class action in New York state court on Wednesday accusing the drug store chain of overcharging customers for prepackaged food, similar to claims New York City made against Whole Foods Market Inc. in late June.

Named plaintiffs Joseph Bassolino and Aissa Khirani allege that they were overcharged for prepackaged food with a price based upon a false, inflated weight, in violation of New York law.
