Jury Adds $3.2M Punitive Damages To Philip Morris Verdict

Law360, Los Angeles (August 3, 2015, 8:40 PM EDT) -- A Florida jury on Monday slapped Philip Morris USA Inc. with $3.2 million in punitive damages, awarding a total of $11 million to the family of an ex-smoker who had two lung transplants after decades of smoking.

The state jury returned its punitive damages verdict quickly after a second trial phase that began and ended on Monday, adding to a $7.8 million compensatory verdict awarded on Friday.
