Judge Dismisses Fortunoff Ch. 11 Case

Law360, New York (September 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal bankruptcy judge closed the book on Fortunoff Fine Jewelry and Silverware LLC's Chapter 11 proceedings Thursday.

Bankruptcy Judge James M. Peck of U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York granted Fortunoff's Aug. 18 request to dismiss the Chapter 11 proceedings.

“The debtors have completed the winding up of their respective business affairs and either fully liquidated their assets or abandoned those assets of inconsequential value not reasonably capable of liquidation,” Judge Peck wrote. “Further, there is no prospect of any distribution...
