Hospital Group Settles In Price-Gouging Lawsuit

Law360, New York (June 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A hospital group that operates 41 facilities has reached a settlement agreement in a class-action lawsuit that accused it of price-gouging hundreds of thousands of uninsured patients.

The company, Catholic Healthcare West, could end up reimbursing about 700,000 people who sought treatment between July 1, 2001 and June 8, 2006. A spokeswoman with the hospital said she could not estimate how much the hospital could pay in claims.
