Lorillard Beats $10M Suit Over Cigarettes

Law360, New York (September 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Lorillard Tobacco Co. has won a jury verdict against a Texas man who alleged that he contracted lung disease from smoking the company's Kent filtered cigarettes in the 1950s.

The jury — in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, 11th Judicial District — ruled Tuesday that Donald A. Young and his wife Wanda Young had not been able to show that Donald had smoked the Kent cigarettes at all, rendering the rest of his allegations moot, according to David Thorne, of Shook Hardy & Bacon...
