Chicago Taxis Say Unfair Uber Regs Killing Business
Law360, Chicago (October 19, 2015, 8:01 PM EDT) -- The Chicago taxi industry says it’s being “destroyed” by city regulations that favor Uber and other ride-hailing platforms, asking a federal judge Monday to relieve cab drivers from costly fees and licensing standards while they fight for equal footing.
The Illinois Transportation Trade Association and dozens of the licensed cab companies it represents are calling for a preliminary injunction that they say would level the playing field while a court battle over regulations governing the ride-hailing industry drags on.
