NJ Paves Way For State’s First Offshore Wind Farm

Law360 (October 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an effort to jumpstart projects for renewable energy sources, New Jersey regulators have hand-picked Garden State Offshore Energy to build the state’s first offshore wind farm, which would power about 125,000 homes.

The state’s Board of Public Utilities on Friday chose Garden State Offshore — a joint venture between a unit of Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. and wind-power firm Deepwater Wind — to undertake the projected $1 billion development of a 350-megawatt wind farm.
