Privacy Group Asks FAA For Tough Drone Registration Rules

Law360, Washington (November 13, 2015, 5:25 PM EST) -- The Federal Aviation Administration should make recreational drone operators not only register their aircraft on a federal registry, but also broadcast the registration number while using them, a privacy watchdog urged the agency on Thursday, highlighting the surveillance risks posed by the increasingly popular hobby.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center, responding to the FAA's request for comments, said that any drone registration rules should mandate that drones flying in the national airspace include an automatic GPS-tracking system.
