Senate Committee To Investigate Interchange Fees

Law360, New York (June 28, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Senate Judiciary Committee plans to dive into a heated debate over credit card interchange rates and potential antitrust concerns at an upcoming hearing.

Although the Wednesday hearing was postponed, the full Committee will look at how interchange fees are set and whether the practices by dominating card giants MasterCard International Inc. and Visa U.S.A. are anticompetitive, on a date still to be determined.
