Calif. Appeal Court Bars Extra Perks For Judges

Law360, New York (October 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California appeals court has concluded that Los Angeles County cannot provide its judges with employment benefits that exceed the compensation laid out by the state legislature.

A three-judge panel of the state’s 4th District Court of Appeal ruled Friday that programs giving judges the same benefits as other county employees violated the California constitution.
