US Launches Wide-Ranging Probe Of WaMu

Law360, New York (October 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The federal government is launching a wide-ranging investigation into the collapse of Washington Mutual, seeking to determine whether the bank broke any laws.

The U.S. attorney’s office in the Western District of Washington announced the beginning of the probe on Wednesday and said that it has assembled a task force of investigators from a variety of organizations to comb through the bank’s records.
