Samsung Faces Long Odds To Recover $548M Apple Award

Law360, New York (December 7, 2015, 10:02 PM EST) -- Samsung's agreement last week to pay Apple $548 million in a long-running patent fight came with a caveat that Samsung will continue to fight and reserves the right to seek reimbursement based on future court rulings, but attorneys say the odds that the company will get any money back are slim.

The Korean technology giant noted in a court filing that it had an "involuntary obligation to pay" Apple Inc. as a result of recent Federal Circuit rulings leaving intact much of a jury verdict that it infringed Apple smartphone patents, but it made clear that the payment will not end...
