By Jessica Corso (December 15, 2015, 4:04 PM EST) -- A California jury slapped Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Ethicon Inc. with $70 million in punitive damages just days after they awarded nearly $10 million to a former police officer who accidentally had her anus stapled shut during hemorrhoid surgery, attorneys for the officer said Monday. 

The same jury in Alameda County that awarded Florence Kuhlmann $10 million to compensate for a 2012 surgery that has left her in need of a colostomy bag came back Monday with a second verdict, this time hitting Ethicon with a $70 million judgment for hiding defects in the PPH 03 hemorrhoid stapler, according to Kuhlmann's...
