GE Defective Microwave Coverage Battle Will Stay In NJ

Law360, Los Angeles (December 16, 2015, 6:39 PM EST) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Wednesday rebuffed LIG Insurance Co. Ltd.'s contention that its dispute with General Electric over coverage for a proposed class action accusing GE of selling defective microwave ovens should be litigated in South Korea, saying evidence relevant to the key coverage issues is in the U.S.

U.S. District Judge Madeline Cox Arleo said that Korea-based LIG failed to show that the East Asian country would be a better forum than New Jersey to litigate the coverage battle with GE, noting LIG's substantial operations in the U.S.
