Each new administration influences antitrust enforcement in a variety of ways, such as through Department of Justice staffing and enforcement decisions as well as through appointments to the Federal Trade Commission.

While it is difficult to predict to what degree campaign rhetoric will translate into actual policy, it is safe to say that either an Obama or McCain presidency will result in a shift in U.S. antitrust policy....
