Law360, New York (December 18, 2015, 12:11 PM EST) -- Beginning in 2016, California state law meet and confer requirements will expand beyond just discovery disputes. Senate Bill No. 383, approved by Gov. Jerry Brown on Oct. 1, 2015 and effective Jan. 1, 2016, adds California Code of Civil Procedure section 430.41. Section 430.41 mandates that the parties meet and confer prior to filing a demurrer and imposes new limits on the use of demurrers.
