QPSX, UTStarcom Settle Digital Network Patent Suit

Law360 (October 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Telecommunications company UTStarcom Inc. has settled a lawsuit brought by Australian patent-holding company QPSX Development 5 Pty Ltd., which accused it and several leading mobile phone suppliers of stealing digital technology invented by three Australian scientists more than a decade ago.

QPSX and UTStarcom asked the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas to dismiss the case with prejudice in a motion filed Thursday. The parties will bear their own costs, according to the motion, which the judge granted Friday.
